Hypo-E vs. normal zonata agalma . . .

JKruse May 11, 2010 03:03 AM

An appreciation photo of how starkly different these are when paired together.......this sub-adult hypo-e female should be ready for next year after 3 years of unrushed progression. Love these things......

This line has always been agalma....where have you been? (I don't have the strength today to answer that one....)

It has a high band count as the line of hypo-E agalma are a cross between the Sierra Juarez and the Sierra de San Pedro Martir...varying traits between both mountain ranges. They were crossed back circa 1994 for no good reason. Until science determines the Martir agalma as their own species, which it looks that way in due time subsequent to evidence from mtDNA research, I will continue to call them agalma as thats what they've been recognized as for more than half a century. Why...did you think it was something else? I'm sure you did. I could care less.

Lastly, and I'm not necessarily giving you the time of day by my lengthy response but rather educating those that might want to learn something, zonata innately tend to go off feed earlier in the year than other kingsnakes. Her first year she took quite a while to get started, as is such with zonata often times even with cb offspring. This summer she will actually be three technically, so the timing isnt off. Remember, these arent Florida kings. Maybe make a note of it or something. Trying to be supportive of you davis but you make it verrrrry tough to do so when you troll my posts after not having spoken to you for many months.

no trolling here jerry calm down.
i think they are Zonata and its simply HILARIOUS how you and others care about and tout, pray, bow down to taxonomy as your diety yet you possess animals like you pictured and TOUT them as "PURE" agalma, this is the exact kind of bs wannabe marketing salesman all the while DOWNING everyone elses animals as MUTTS talk about double standards, come on! those animals are nice zonata does it make you feel superior to tout them as sanpedro/juarez crosses cuz U R SMRT?! get over it!
you by your own standards, admissions, have, own and are propagating MUTTS as you say, rock on!
and yeah i had Z's years ago that certainly did not take 3years to get that size. size and growth rates are dependant on conditions i would have hoped you knew and understood and applied that...ahwell
good luck with all your Z's jerry

WTF is all this about? You tryin' to teach me something I already know??? LOL. Thanks for the well-wishing, but I can take it from here Thomas. Oh yes.....and not all zonata are the same....some ssp take off more readily (multicincta) while others (pulchra) take longer. It's not a blanket statement, but it's been my, and others I know, experience.
