Just got done posting my comments

If anyone else out there hasn't hurry up. It may not be much but at least stand up and say something. We may have to go underground but we can let them know we don't want to go underground before we do.

Call me crazy, but I am cautiously optimistic about defeating this bill. The evidence seems too stacked against the possibility of nationwide invasion by pythons, and most of the comments I read on the public comment page were from people against the ban.
Nevertheless, time will tell, and that leads me to my question: when will this bill be voted on, now that the public comment period is over?

This is not a bill it is a rule change... there will be no vote. Politicians will not decide. It must be processed by USFWS... that could take 2 weeks... or a year. That is how the efficiency of our federal gov operates.

Don't like the open to consideration forever notion. There should be a sundown clause to set a deadline for consideration. If no action within a certain time period then the rule change fails.

Right now Secretary Salazar is under the microscope. His plate is rather full of "other" issues at the moment.
Let's hope he's in the right frame of mind and has the time (soon) to rule in our favor.

I feel like the rule change has an EXCELLENT chance of going through. Not NEARLY as many people stood up and commented against this rule change as their should have been. Not even close. The USFWS and the DOI will probably take that as a cue that there really won't be that many people affected by this as USARK claims.

Add to that that the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) just submitted comment that SUPPORTED the rule change along with the numerous comments from Animal Rights activists in favor of rule change (making claims like herpers have fetishes where they like to see small animals crushed for sexual gratification) and this is a NASTY war.

I'm also scared crapless that the nepotistic ties within the DOI will trump everything else. To those that don't realize, the USFWS, the USGS, and the NPS (National Park Service which is the parent org for the Everglades National Park, or ENP) ALL FALL UNDER THE DOI, OR DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR.

Human nature (as well as politics) dictate that you always favor your family first. Those organizations are family and each one has a MAJOR role in this process. The USFWS wants to see this rule change take place, the USGS wants to see it take place, and so does the NPS. And their boss (they all have the same boss, Secretary Salazar) wants to see it take place as well.

Again, NOT ENOUGH PEOPLE STOOD UP AGAINST THIS. Thankfully, USARK has secured an additional 30 days, for those who sat idly by and watched the initial comment period expire, to comment. If you didn't take the time to do it before, YOU HAD BETTER DO IT NOW. Or you WILL see the end to the reptile industry and pet keeping as we know it, in your lifetime.

Remember, this is a first step. Animal rights extremists are like "the juggernaut" from the x-men comics. They work off of inertia. Once they get going, they're almost impossible to stop. But if we keep them from taking that first step, it's a HUGE win.

Again, if you neglected to comment before, you have a chance to redeem yourself and help protect our way of life. Stand up and DO IT!

Politicians love nothing more than to redirect the public's attention. Can't you see him using DEADLY CONSTRICTORS as a platform to ease the public back into his pocket?

Good thing I never did drugs. I'm not sure my skepticism and paranoia would have allowed me to live this long if I had! lol
