Sunglow Jungle X Motley het Albino

mdc May 12, 2010 09:43 AM

I was really anticipating this litter, but I must say it was a little disappointing. Despite holding onto them till day 127 post ov and day 112 POS, the sunglow and albinos were born with really big bellies and not a lot of color. Most have already passed. There were some other goodies in there and mom is fine, so not so bad. On to the pics.....

Litter:

Hypo motley jungle het albino:

A nice motley het albino:

I thought this pic really showed the difference between a hypo motley and a hypo motley jungle. The jungle gene really cleaned up the hypo mot (if I'm correct on this). Opinions are welcome.

Thanks for looking.
Matt

Those are pretty sweet!
Sorry to hear about the albinos but maybe just when piling on that many mutations it's still too much.

The ones that did make it look healthy and should thrive for you.

Thanks for the comments. I was kind of wondering the same thing.

Congrats Matt.... well sort of!! Thats boas for you! You definitely got a few cool babies there. Let us know if the albinos and sunglows make it. What is up with the albinos getting the big bellies and being 'weaker' sometimes??

mdc May 12, 2010 02:44 PM

Thanks Shane. I think it is just part of the albino mutation. These parents are about as outcrossed as it gets. I will just try a different male with her next year (if she's ready).

I agree its part of the albino mutation- just like the eye defects. People used to think it was from not outcrossing, but I think its just a weaker gene and most other types of albino animals have eye problems among others.

>>A nice motley het albino:

yeah you're not kidding! I'm not a huge fan of motleys (as I run and hide lol) but that one has a killer pattern for sure!

Even though there's the bad luck with the 'binos, it looks like a great litter, Congrats Matt! The hypo jungle motley is crazy looking.

I tried the red group jungle male that was from your 08 litter with one of my girls but he wasn't quite ready yet, so hopefully next season!

Hi April. Hope all is going well. Too bad that male didn't go for you. Fred produced a litter with his brother this year.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks Richard. That is a paradox sunglow jungle. Don't think he'll make it.

Thanks Lar. I'm curious to see what others think about that animal. Do you think it is a hypo motley jungle or just a hypo motley? I guessed jungle because of how clean it looked compared to the other one.

Matt

LarM May 12, 2010 03:02 PM

I agree with you Matt I believe that one is a Hypo Motley Jungle.

The crispness of the saddles and clean base color
seem like clear indicators !

forsure a Hypo Jotley. You can just tell by the pattern, cleaness like you said and i've seen a few in person both Hypo and Normal Jotleys and that little one screams it. Sorry bout the bellies but whats up with that one colorful one in the top right cornor?

DSavickey May 12, 2010 05:23 PM
