Hypos het Roswell Born

mdc May 12, 2010 09:49 AM

A small, but nice litter. Mom was produced by Jesse Van Atta from a red group hypo x het coral albino. Dad was from Heather's original '07 litter. Final count is 3 hypos het Roswell, 1 het Roswell, 4 hypos, and 2 normals. Unfortunately these hypos didn't hold the pattern as well as Jason's, but definately different from the other hypos in the litter.

And the Roswell hets all together:

I think they held the pattern perfectly well! The Hypo gene always reduces pattern. The pattern of some Rosewells is thinner already than some within a given litter. So to see some of them even thinner is exactly what you would expect to see. The patterns are not decimated like they are in the case of Hypo Motleys. They are simply a bit thinner. Those are absolutely fantastic! Congrats!!!

Thanks Jeff. I was just hoping they would keep the connected tail pattern.

That's a tiny sample of what is to come. With only three nobody knows how they will look in the future. Plus the Hypo bred may have more to do with what the offspring will translate into as well. A wider saddled Hypo is more likely to more connectors too. A little selective breeding can go a long way. There may be more of it in the future and maybe more like you hoped for. I for one am very happy with them and can't wait to see those puppies after they shed! Congrats!

very nice Matt! Wasn't your roswell (or het roswell?) a poss het albino? if so, sorry he didn't prove out. Otherwise though, those are some pretty sweet babies and I agree, they seem to have kept a pretty nice pattern esp. with the hypo in the mix.

Thanks April. He was 66% het and mom is 50% het. At least one of them didn't prove.

Great litter Matt Congrats, they're beautiful !

I'll admit I was hoping the Hypo Het Roswell Pattern would be much
stronger and would have held together entirely.

I was hoping in every hypo Roswell breeding every single Hypo Het
Roswell baby would have a completely connected pattern
including the tail connectors.

They are very beautiful for certain, can't wait to see shed pics !
