I am not sure I understand the question. You can not road hunt period. You need your permits or hunting liscence to catch or sell. You need land owner permission to catch and have all you peas in the pod .It has changed alot but is workable.I just got a ticket my fault. They dropped one of the tickets the other cost 400 dollars. If you are catching any animal to breed they consider that commercial period no way to fight it.You at least need the non game permit you can buy at any walmart and hour regular hunting permit. It has changed and is not as friendly any more with game wardens being very distrustful of us .My goal is to be friends with any game warden I meet.Be nice smile and do not argue as they are the gods of the land here.Explain your self and do not trespass. They are in fact looking to generate income for the state and will ticket you very quickly. There reading and understanding of the law falls on the extreme and they do not budge. How you react to there agression will decide the outcome quickly. You can be stopped and searched or you can be ticketed searched and have your car disassembled all with in there legal rights if you are hunting within the state of Texas.Find a private land owner to allow you to collect on there land or you will become a victom of your own mistakes.

The Austin Herpetological Society is having speakers from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for a Q&A regarding the Texas Nongame and Commercial rules and regulations at their next meeting, May 15th, Georgetown TX, so I'm told.
I would suggest anyone that can make it attend.
