Question for Randy Remington....

anthony james mc May 12, 2010 05:49 PM

In the following breeding what would you see as the possible results Randy???

Pastel Crystal(Mojave version obviously)x Special (Baker line)=?

I have my own thoughts already but wondered what you think odds would unfold mathmatically?

Thanks

Anthony McCain

"Pastel Crystal(Mojave version obviously)x Special (Baker line)=?"

Not claiming to be an expert but since you asked ...

I believe that special and mojave are alleles so just looking at that complex think each egg's chances would be:

25% homozygous special
25% crystal (i.e. specialmojave)
25% mojave
25% special

and just looking at the pastel side

50% pastel
50% normal for pastel

So overlaying the two:

12.5% pastel homozygous special
12.5% homozygous special (normal for pastel)
12.5% pastel crystal
12.5% crystal (normal for pastel)
12.5% pastel mojave
12.5% mojave (normal for pastel)
12.5% pastel special
12.5% special (normal for pastel)

Thanks Randy for taking the time to break that down!

This does make sense!
