BobS May 13, 2010 08:43 PM

I've been busy for a little bit but thought I'd pop in to post this killer pic my friend Scott Koonts from Uwharrie reptiles sent me. It's a CrimsonKing high quality type pic(not like mine) and a snake I wish was mine LOL! stuff like this inspires me and unfortunately makes me jealous

Hope you enjoy.

Hi,

Is that one of Scott's Montgomery Co. NC beauties? I received a pair of those several years ago, via my buddy Keith Hillson, but regrettably I sold them. I really like the bold white bands. They are very different from the b & w NJs that I have. I haven't purchased easterns from anyone in while, but a pic like that sends me lookin' for my wallet and contemplating cage space. Very Nice!

Will

You sure have posted a lot of killer pics over the years yourself!

WillStill May 14, 2010 03:59 PM

Thanks Bob, nice of you to say. I'm absolutley gonna have to look into some more of the those Montys. I have most of the band width covered within my current spectrum of easterns, but wide white, I don't have. Will

Will,
I have several holdback F1 Montgomery's from 2009 hatch if you are interested in trading for your Burlingtons. Send me an E-mail if you are interested.

As much of a zonata nut that I am........I love all kingsnakes........and I currently (in the last year) have made room for a sweet pair of Baja Cal kings (conjuncta) and a phenomenal pair of Christmas Mountains desrt kings (splendida). But I have to admit I've been wanting badly an exceptional pair of easterns for the last few years. The one who gets my vote is Howie Shermans' Va Beach thus far.......BUT, these are catching my attention as of recent. I'm extremely picky, and only have room for a pair.

Thoughts?????? Suggestions????????

Jerry, I gotta tell you I have like 4-5 different lines of Easterns right now and these big Northern Floridas are REAL NICE. Been looking for some like this a while myself. I'm a fan of the S.Ga wide bands, and the best looking king I ever caught was in Tony's town of Currituck NC, but these guys are HUGE(male 6' female over 5')almost like Indigos. Sorry about the bad pic, goes with the territory, lol.

Do you have any more background on those North Florida eastern kings?

I caught both these kings in Florida about 50 miles south of the Georgia border:

Jeff Schofield May 14, 2010 01:38 AM

Those are Columbia co. kings.

BobS May 14, 2010 10:38 AM

Hey Jerry,

I'm having fun with the ones I got from Scott and those VA Beach ones are definitely eyecatching. Your right, You can't keep them all! I only keep a small collection these days, you gotta be picky.

I say that today. Check back in a year and I may have fallen and have 100! I doubt it ,but discipline is hard for me.

A friend of a friend of mine, was brought a TRUE Amel Eastern King, by someone who just found it and brought it to the guy because it had a gash in it. Well the gash heald up fine, and the lucky friend is also a kingsnake breeder, he was offered 6,000 for it already at a reptile show and refused. The snake is a silver gray.

Maybe the original locality of the Albino line is in a intergrade zone, but its been bred 2-3 generations into "pure" stock. Shoot, I bred one to a wide band Tift co GA and got some het eggs cooking. "New" lines of albinos are only worth big $$ now if they are different, say its a lav albino. By the time more of that type are produced(2 generations)the original line will be indistinguishable, making it a pretty bad "investment". I'll speak for others and say...cant wait to see some pics!!

Any more ifo on this? Can your friend come and post here to explain and possibly answer some questions? What reptile show was he at? What part of the country was the king found...?

questions, questions..

Is his a red eye albino? That what you meant by "true", correct?

Can't wait to hear more and see a pic.

tell your friend to take lots of pics to record should anything happen to it.

Any info on the locale? and who found it and how?? Really would love to hear more of this story. Without communicationg this sort of thing data gets lost and only old snake folklore is left.
