breeding my boas?

grooter2 May 13, 2010 10:52 PM

I know it is really late in the season to put my male sunglow and female salmon jungle het albino together but due to them being in my basement and the temps dropping in the summer and rising in the winter, I thought it would be okay to try now. The day light provided has been cut back as well. I have the ambient temp at 82F during the day and the hot spot 92F.

After waiting a week after being fed a smaller sized meal I put my male with my female. The male instantly went on top of the female and followed her into the hide box. After a few hours the male came out and is ignoring the female (2 days in counting)

Now for my questions:

1. I read that courtship can take up to 3-8 weeks, so is it possible that they could have done the deed in only a few hours and that's why he is ignoring her now?

2. My male has went pee about 3 times now in her cage in the last 3 days which is unusual because he usually only pees every 10 days, what does this indicate?

3. Because he has showed no interest in her for the last 2 days should I separate them?

Thanks

I just replied to majinchip's thread below, similar to your question and I think it will help. Make sure to visit the link in my second post too. Good luck with the breeding!!
