anyone breeding some nice classic easterns?
I agree. But the tough part is that there is SO much variation! My personal pick is the Virginia Beach locality -- gimme some good black with THICK, wiiiide quality white bands and I'm set.

You do know that is Shannon's pet name for Rainer, right?......LOL
I think it started back in 2005.......In Daytona....But it may have roots farther back than that...........It is still funny but Rainer may not think so......hehehe

Ask me if I care........Rainer and i are cool with each other. Do you think I'd post this pic if we weren't? It takes a REAL man to don a leopard print shirt, and I respect that dammit.

The clean white ones with wide banding can be found all throughout Chesapeake and as far down as Currituck and Pasquotank NC.
Of course, there's a high variability within all of them but they're from all over that area.
The gene flow is cool...Currituck is heading towards Dare county and the OBX where they got landlocked, etc...

I know many of you like the wider white bands, but if thats the case, why not just get high white Cal Kings since they are closest to what you all seem to like???
Its just me I guess, but I like easterns to look more like classics with slightly narrower bands. Then again, I dont breed high contrast black and white Cals, but like brown and yellow Coastals.
Cal Kings just don't get my heart racing. I like that Classic Chain Pattern and the impressive muscular build that Chains have. Problem is there is a lot of variance as already mentioned. I'm not nessecarily looking for wide bands but clean white Chain patterns. Crimson King (Mark) has some nice stock of localities.

Actually, the most muscular king I have is the Coastal Cal in the pic below.
Before I got my first female eastern last year, I never really considered them very seriously, now its JUST the opposite...
I now work with Coastal Cals, Houston TX area lemon Speckleds, Kentucky Blacks, and ...Easterns haha.
Please, post some lemons if you could?

That's a REALLY nice eastern there Chris. I'd like to chime in on this though. True nice clean whites are found throughout the area but in my experieince, the populations from the Princess Anne area of Virginia Beach down through Pungo are more consistantly clean. That said two of the best I ever found were from Currituck.

I have Currituck, NC and a few other locales but I'm still waiting on my Jersey ones to mature. I really like the thin white bands that are 1 scale wide or even less.

Here's a lil Jersey eastern........I just don't think they compare to their southern counterparts......but each to their own.......Jersey easterns are quite unique actually -- a tad smaller as well.

I have some nice Easterns, some of Jim Seargents Lemon speckleds from Harris County Texas, A Sulfur Brooks from Brandon Osborn and all sorts of other favorite stuff etc. But you guys, showing and talking about all these other awesome Kings like the Black and White Zonata have reduced me to sitting in the corner repeating.. "you can't keep it all"..."you can't keep it all", "You can't keep it all"..... LOL
Being around Y'all is not good for the dscipline of keeping a small collection. No more pics. Mercy....LOL
You've seen the big one AC used to have? I think there's a pic on EK resource site..

Wow, I havent seen the eastern king resource site in eons....there was a time even mentioning such a thing could get you booted on KS. But no, I don't recall it. I'm heading down to Va Beach for memorial Day weekend and will try my luck and see what happens. I will post my success, or not, after my trek. Thanks for reminding me of that site, as for some reason I thought it was no more.
