cleaning snake tanks

keng1111 May 14, 2010 06:18 PM

I was wondering if someone could recommend a good cleaning product or mixture. Also, I was wondering how long to leave aspen in the tank before completely cleaning and adding new aspen. Thanks

yeah I use water and a weak solution of bleach about a capfull in a regular spray bottle. I also add a couple drops of dish liquid. I spray it on let it sit a couple minutes then rinse and wipe with paper towles. As for the bedding I spot clean almost daily. Just scoop up any feces and sorounding chips. I will change the entire subtrate when it starts to look or smell like it needs changing. It depends on how perfect you want it to look and it also depends on how much your snake is feeding. If you feed your snake often then it will poop more often. Just make sure you clean his water bowl every couple of days and never let it stay with any poop in it. Dirty water is the quickest way to make a captive snake sick. Good luck.
