Another Litter... No Paradoxes.

ceniceros May 14, 2010 09:52 PM

I had a cool healthy litter of sunglows, albinos, Dh sunglows and het. albinos from breeding a kahl albino female to my paradox boys. I was hoping to get another paradox but not one, i know paradoxes are random but i thought i had a better shot by using an actual paradox. Dont have the final count but id say its about 25 babies 2 slugs and mom delivered at day 112 POS.

Heres the Paradox boys

The Sunglow Paradox

The litter

Oh well.

well i guess that breeding shows that a paradox is a het and not an albino. I would have liked seeing it the other way around!
Congrats on the litter though, a healthy litter is always a success!!

What else is weird about this litter is the Sunglow has red eyes so you would think he would play out as a sunglow genitically right. While the other paradox has black eyes and is a non hypo so i would think he would play out as just a het. albino right?

So why did i get hypos het. albino? As this pairing was to an albino female. I should have only got Sunglows, albinos and hets? Even if it was a split litter.

Kinda weird.

Wierd for sure, but that is the beauty of breeding when unexpected things happen... Gotta take the good with the bad sometimes though!
That paradox sunglow is still my favorite snake ever though!! Used to drool over him back when he was for sale

Congratulations Richard !

I have some thoughts and speculation here . . . .

Heres the Paradox boys

The Sunglow Paradox

Irregardless of eye color to me they both look like Homozygous animals.

I believe Paradox Albino's are a form of Pied Albino which is a form of Leucism.

So if this is a form of new mutation (The Paradox Albino or Pied Leucy Mutation).

Both of these guys came out of an Albino litter.

So they carry the normal Albino gene as Heterozygous animals

but are both homozygous for Paradox Albino ( A Recessive trait probably)

One (2nd image) is a Hypo Paradox Albino(Sunglow Paradox)
(Homozygous Paradox and also displays Hypo in het form )

The other (1st image) is a Paradox albino. (Homozygous Paradox)

So your new litter now is heterozygous for Paradox (Pied Albino) possibly . . . . . . .

Good point Lars. Thats how I am leaning with this Paradox thing. I would hold back a few females and breed them back to their Paradox dads. As always Lars, you have some terrific input. You're like the old EF HUTTON commercials. When Lars speaks.......Panichi listens, LOL. Thanks. Mike

first off, AMAZING PARADOXES!!!!!!!

I have been told my MANY breeders what a waste of money, time, concern ,and effort I have put into the paradox x paradox breeding project...but I am excited to see others with the same hope..that somehow you can find some that will prove out every time or with some degree of certainty!! Some of my paradoxes have actually come from a paradox parent, so to say there's no way its not genetic somehow seems to be in denial to some extent.

Anyway, I think your males are amazing looking !! Congrats on your litter and I def hope that some of your offspring can prove out later for you !!!! If you ever wish to part with either male, please feel free to email me!!!lol

Whether they prove out or not, there's no denying paradoxes, especially in the most extreme cases, are awesome looking animals!!!! take care

CONGRATS on that litter, and THANK You very much for posting this. This is FACINATING stuff. That Sunglow you have is one of the coolest animals I have seen in person when you showed it to me. I LOVED IT. I would love it if they were genetic.

CONGRATS on the VERY nice litter, and thank you for reporting your findings with the Paradox.

Lets see your boa dance Richard. I know you have one... lol
