I was wondering some things about redfoots. Does size matter as far as what sex you get, such as do females tend to get bigger than males or are they about the same size? Do redfoots have any special requirements other than standard tortoise care?

They prefer a humid environment. (I keep mine on cyprus mulch when they are indoors for the winter).
They also (although I know I am about to spawn some debate I think) Need a little protein in their diet. They can even take a bit more fruit in their diet than sulcata can.
I do hear conflicting reports with the protein. Some say I NEVER feed it. Some say I feed it all the time. Mine get Mazuri tortoise chow as the protein portion of their diet but when I have them outside for the summer they also supplement this themselves with slugs (NOT A PRETTY SIGHT!!), earthworms and other crawlies that wander into their pens and hold still long enough.
