my friends turtle laid an egg

im having her candle it to see if there are any veins, but she needs advice on what to do next, how to care for this lil egg until it hatches and so forth. can anyone give me specific instructions on how to house a turtle egg safely to hatching, with very little experience and a lil cost........thanks in advance.....

First of all what kind of turtle egg? If it was a water turtle was it laid in the water. If it was in the water for too long it it's chances of hatching are not good.

Next the egg should not be rotated in anyway. This can kill it.

Next candling a freshly laid egg will not determine if it is fertile as the embryo has not begun to develop and make all the veining.

Most importantly we do need to know what specie it is so that the incubation substrate, humidity and temperature specifics can be given to your friend.

its a red eared slider, and as far as i know she didnt lay it in the water. I am not sure about wether she has turned it over or anything, but this is the first time shes had this come up. Nobody warned her of this possiblity before her son recieved this pet. I will get the information you need and get back to you as soon as possible. thanks again....
