Cherry Salmon litter born Sunday ...

TreyStowell May 17, 2010 05:44 PM

Just thought I would share a few clean up tub shots of what (to me) is a special litter ... after not getting a litter of Cherry Salmons in 2009, and having one Cherry salmon litter slug out on me this year, my spirits were really down regarding another litter of cherry salmons since I (until now) had only been able to produce one litter from the patriarch male Cherry salmon to date (first litter he sired was in 2008).

So ... on that 'up note' this litter born Sunday really made my day ... all babies healthy and seeming hearty (although one is quite small but seems just fine). The Aby salmon mother gave a nice litter of about 16 or so with no slugs or still borns (still have not done a head count). There are some definate supers and only 3 normals in the litter. Will be sure to post some post-shed pics in the next 2-4 weeks.

So here are pics taken today in their clean up tub to satisfy curiousities until better post-shed pictures are taken ...

Hope everyone enjoys the pics and as always thanks a million for looking! This litter is just about it for me this year ... I Hope everyone's season is going well to-date and winds up on a good note for each and every forum member respectively.

Warm Personal Regards to All,

Trey your killin me.You've been producing some of the best litters shown so far this year. Was this a cherry salmon to a jungle?

TreyStowell May 17, 2010 07:47 PM

Pairing was a Cherry Salmon male bred to a Aby salmon female (produced my Mike Weitzman).

There are either two or three non-salmons/normals in the litter of 16 /- total (still gotta do a head count LOL). Interesting thing is the normals do not look anything like the 'cherry normals' from my 2008 Cherry salmon litter ... due (I feel) to 2008's pairing having been with a already nicely colored normal columbian and this year's pairing/litter having been with the Aby salmon female. The Aby's genetics seem to have trumped the litter's normal babies color genes that the 2008 litter showed.

Can't complain one bit though ... I am stoked I'll take the nice high salmon/super salmon ratio over high normal count regardless of how colorful they might have been LOL.

Thanks for the comments and question!

Congrats on the awesome litter, Trey! Some of those salmons are definitely hotter than most salmon jungles you see out there!
