Crickets shed their skin there for I am a genius.
I used to use greens but no more. Greens make the crickets poop very moist and cause their environment to become humid which kills them or if you're lucky just shortens their lifespan.
I use a dry grain food and apples for moisture. Apples are mold resistant, much more than citrus, and certainly better than sponges. I cut them into eighths and lay them skin side down, then change them every 3 days.
I use a chicken waterer, and a dry diet like grain/fish flakes. Josh
