Subject - California Kings. Desert = black - Coastal = brown? A long time back I seem to remember catching Cal. kings that ranged from light brown, thru dark brown, to black - all in Ventura County. Is this just my imagination?-----theOLDherper---'pete'

Pete,
I thought that is what you posted in your original post.....

The black and white Calkings are deserts......The brown and cream to yellow Calkings are coastals........

From one old herper to another, Wide white and black black, is associated with california high deserts east to Vegas, with animals in the Parumph(sp) area, a really nice 50/50 black and white.

With SoCal coastals being mostly brown and yellow(home of the fantastic coastal cal kings(stripes, bandeds, abberents) of course, there are all manner of color combinations from other areas.

Of course, Newporters were a hit as well. Then theres NorCal, yes, theres kings there, but not so nice, hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Heck, there is no comparison to Vista banana kings, a wide golden yellow brown, on a screaming yellow snake with ornate head markings.

But hey, I am too old to remember tooooooooo. Cheers
