Knuckles being Curious

GeRm Sep 22, 2003 03:51 PM

Hey guys, another pic for you today is Knuckles being Curious.

It was taken a couple of days ago when he wasn't being so scared of me, suddenly he has been skittish and scared of me...but today I spent about 40 minutes with him, and discovered a great way to bond with Knuckles!

Here's the recipe...well at least what i done to allow me to pick him up with no fuss or trouble:

- pet him softly on his head and under the chin
- pick him up when his eyes close (but he ran away)
- stay with him, dont go away
- dip your fingers in the water dish
- put some of the droplets of water onto to his snout
- he will (or might) lick it off
- keep doing this for about 5 mins in similar pattern
- he will begin to trust you and close his eyes, still licking
- gently go further down his body petting him gently
- he should get comfortable with it, and might like the company
- slowly pick him up...and Voila!
- he should allow you to pick him up and continue petting him
- put him down when you think he's had enough!

Well it worked for me and he's pretty new, this might be helpful to anyone who just purchased a Frilled and dont know what to do...have fun!

Oh yeah, any thoughts on Knuckles being a male or female? I hope its a boy, I named it Knuckles!

He looks almost identical to my Frilled, Lilith, my vet isn't entirely sure if mine is a male or female though. I was told when I bought her she was a more than likely a 'she.'

Lilly is still adjusting as well, most of the time she eats every other day. It's been a couple of weeks but she's starting to get more active. The vet I took her to said he wasn't overly nervous yet about her being skittish and eating every other day, at least she's putting on weight.

I take her out when I mist her, she seems to like that, and she's generally a bit more active after I put her back in.

Also, when they're that small, try holding them vertical on your finger. Makes them feel like they're on a tree or something. They'll cling to your finger and feel more secure.

Thanks for the advice! I will try doing that, Knuckles let me stroke her a lot of times today, and when I went I saw her looking at me for more...so I gave into to his charming little face and stroke him with some more water...it was so cute!

hey thanks for the compliment, I think I should make a reptile cook book someday about Frilleds...I learn everyday so much about Knuckles and his behaviour, they are such awesome creatures!
