One of my FB friends posted a link to this horrendous petition (she's a reptile lover, was posting it out of anger, not because she actually believed the article). It's the worst portrayal of reptile keepers I've ever seen. And people are actually believing it, signing the petition, and forwarding it off to the president. Just goes to show the politicians are getting letters from both sides and what kind of crazy people are on the other side to resort to crap like this.

I know I shouldn't laugh at this, I should (and am deeply) be horrified, but this is so ridiculous and extreme it borders on hilarious. "Crush kitten sexual fetishes", LMFAO. Has any of the boa/Burmese breeders seen this? The should know they are apparently sexual deviants.

I reported the page to the website administrator for its inaccurate content. I did not express any opinion either way on the law, but stated that it was defrauding people of their honest opinion by encouraging people to support a law that does not address the issues it claims to. All of which is true. I don't know if that will help, but I wanted to do *something*.

That first paragraph is, ridiculous.
Generalizing us all, a few sick people who might feed kittens to their snake, but I am confident to say the vast majority are more responsible.

Who writes or even THINKS of this stuff? And like all of this articles that come out, the "comments" at the bottom, are more disturbing than the article itself!

I think these people might just be classic extremists. They probably had this pre-written up and then they just fill in the blanks with "monstrous snake owners". I was unaware monstrous was a technical size, btw. If Burmese are monstrous, does that make BPs gremlin sized?

I just tried to view the petition and made it to the "change.org" website, but an error message said that link was not available at this time and they would "check into it".

I reported it, too. Talk about defamatory and offensive. It says alot about the intelligence of those who signed it, too...

My brother in law brought that to my attention already. It's so ridiculous I don't know if i should be pissed or amused. he did wonder, though, since he doesn't become sexually aroused watching his snakes eat if he has ereptile dysfunction.

I just clicked the link and it still works for me, was hoping it wouldn't and that it had been removed... Hopefully they will remove it and will ban the poster from doing any other petitions on their site. I didn't cross post it because the only python forum I go to is this one. Anyone else who cares to share it with other python forums is welcome.

It is just too ridiculous, the thing that got me really upset was that a few hundred people had believed it and signed the petition. I found that as disturbing as the petition itself.

Didn't know the wild burmese pythons terrorizing florida were albinos. Too bad they are Illegal in NY or I'd go down and catch one for myself, I like the albino ones

I just sent my complaint to Change.org. hopefully if we all complain on how slanderous and misleading the petition is, they might remove it. I'm no very computer savy, can someone post the link to the petition on the retic and burm forum...I'm sure the would LOVE to read it.

They just create whatever they want and people view it as fact!!!! "Create a Petition"

There is no place to post..

I even responded to it and had to sign it just so I could put my views on it and they would not even take it (can not find it). This is terrible!!! The crushing part is beyond description...next thing is we are all child diddlers or something!! Anything to make reptile keepers look morally TERRIBLE!!!

and look how easy it is to get people to sign in numbers but for whatever reason reptile keepers don't seem all too pressed to react to the new regulations looming!!!! Yeah, well, I don't keep that species so it's not that big of a deal! WRONG WRONG WRONG!!! They have BALL PYTHONS on their minds!!!!! They have said it and they are interested in the species because BALL PYTHONS can BURROW to get away from cold temperatures!@!! Fish and Wildlife has actually said this!!!!!
