Iguana feces had mucus

kamido Sep 22, 2003 04:12 PM

My iguana had loose stools in August. went to vet and got cleared up with a dose of panacur. After this however I noticed mucus in her feces. It is brownish and she still has the actual feces, urates, and urine. There was almost as much mucus as feces so we went back to the vet who looked at a fecal sample and gave her a dose of panacur and metronidazole. Situation improved alot but not completely. two weeks later got another does of panacur and matronidazole. The vet said it was most likely an imbalance of bacterica etc. in her gut.
She has been doing very well. She is alert and active as usual. She seemed to be unaffected except by her feces. I noticed yesterday a very small amount of mucus for the first time since her last treatment. I'm keeping an eye on this but am wondering what can cause this mucus? and what effects can this have long term?
thanks.
ps She is a little over a year old with no other health issues in the past. she eats collards, mustard greens, green beans, squash. etc

Thats true, in general mucus means worms! When any of my reptiles has mucus in its poop i give them de-worm and the problem is solved. Its weird the recurrence of these worms attacks!Does your ig eat or have any contact with soil? The only time i put my STARS in the garden all of them got giardia!
