New mexico is looking to put together a permit system for keeping exotics. There will also be a level 4 threat where no permits will be issued leaving them illegal.

Now the bad part.... There is a whole lot of Lampropeltis listed at level 4. Check out the directors species import list. Includes cali kings, pyros, goini, brooksi, spendida.... Well pretty much everything claiming they are invasive.

Same thing here in GA. The list does not go into subspecies level. They just enforce all the native stuff though.

I think they do that to protct them from any lawsuits in case there is a mistake made in idetification process and the non- natives are removed taken as identified as native species from a private collector. This happened to me sevral years ago when I was told i was in violation of keeping Florida kings. They went by an old field guide (yes the zoo herpetologists and state biologists)and did not know about the DNA tests done on ken kryscos thesis on all eastern getula. That paper proved there are no Florida king within 300 miles of the state border. The feild guide shows them barely touching a small tip of south GA.

They dismissed the case against me and i was able to keep my animals.

What i discovered was they had busted several people just weeks prior to them visiting me at reptiles shows. They confiscated their snakes and fined them. Now since the atual writing of the law does not go into sub-specific levels , it covers them for all species of kings, ratsnakes, pits ect. So theoretically all kings, rats etc are in violation but they openinly state on the wbsite they don't enforce it at this time. They are present at reptiles shows and heck, all the pet shops have cal kings and other non native kings, rats, pits etc.

So we are at the laws wim. It is governemnt in compltete control.

With more regulations being made everytime someone gets hurt, losses their life (ya hear it on the news) this country will eventually govern itself to death. It is just a state of though people have these days that if something bad happens ONE TIME, there must be a new law made against it.

This new thing of making constant new regulations requires enforcment. that means more jobs for people to be hired to enfoce those laws. That is where our tax dollars go. And these 'enforcemnt agncies and people who work for them, I have no respect for. You guys ruin lives just so you can go home with a paycheck to feed your families. Hypocrites!

This is why i would never be so desperate to be a cop. The laws today are making these cops with a bad attitide or completly dead inside. They think they are helping but in fact they are really hurting people, families, KIDS! I have seen so many people lives destroyed over som petty code violation, it saddens me deeply. this country is no longer what it used to be. It is no longer the GREAT US of A. We are no longr united as one. Not even in this hobby. That is why this goverment WILL FALL from Gods grace.

As a nation that may be the root of it. But it is an overall turning away from God. We are on our own. Even within the Christian sects you have so much heresy. Lets see how we do!
