...so much for the kind words. I was scrolling down the message board and then... noticed the post from 8 April...!
I owe you guys (and probably everybody else that I know on here), an apology for not posting more often. I thought I would do JUST that, but I had to move from my nice housing unit here in Kandahar, back into a tent late last year, which meant that I lost my good reliable internet... They are still working to get us some reliable internet here - hopefully very soon. But I do have a place that I can go to, to access the internet. So at a minimum I will be able to post on here from time to time - ESPECIALLY NOW (during breeding season -right?), LOL!
But anywho....SORRY for the long period of inactivity!!!
I am still in the hobby and STILL have my collection (about 54 snakes) and they are doing great thanks to the wife and my sons!
Soon I will be home FOR GOOD!!!

Zee, long time no see. I know you'll be happy when your back home.
Do you do an herping over there on your off time? I was over in Qatar a little over four years ago, and did a little critter hunting whenever I got the chance. Stay safe. Steve

Hi Steve!
Great to hear from you! I haven't seen a single snake yet, but a few nice lizards and tons of geckos at night. I think all the bulldozing and expanding they've done here at the base has all but killed most of the snakes. I did see a little 12 inch sand boa once, two years ago on a road in Bagram (which is near Kabul). But that was about it.
In Kuwait, when I lived there I've seen a desert cobra, saw scaled viper, horned viper, and several Diadem snakes (I think). And in lizards I saw a young desert monitor (they're very rare), LOTS and LOTS of LARGE Uromastyx, and many geckos as well.

Sorry - I wish I could.... Especially some of those huge Uros I've seen in Kuwait. Some were almost two and a half feet long (that's long/big for a short-tailed lizard), and close to four or five pounds!!!
