ups not shipping snakes?

xxdean057xx May 20, 2010 07:56 PM

I got an e-mail from shipyourreptiles.com saying ups wont ship snakes through them anymore, so does that mean just through syr.com or everyone?

they'll not be able to ship snakes until they can figure it out cause some dummy messed something up. Sucks for us people that do everything right when it comes to shipping. I'm sure they'll figure it out once they can figure out a way to prevent whatever happened from happening again.

but I can still drop off snakes at ups myself not going through shipyourreptiles.com

I thought you weren't aloud to ship snakes unless you were certified with them, so does anyone know of a shipping company that does ship snakes for the normal person that isn't certified through FedEx or UPS?

Im normal and I am certified with fed ex. Its easy.

"Im normal" are ANY of us "normal"???

LOL, that was too easy!!!

To be certified with Fedex you have to go through a relatively short process including sending them a sample box. I think you do need to have a business license though. I went through the process early in 1999 and was simple. Included a visit from Fedex to see I was in the reptile business, wanted to see my snakes.

I got certified about a year ago and it was pretty easy like you said. No business license required (in Indiana anyway).

it would take before some individual screwed it up for everyone else. ie using substandard packaging, shipping venomous etc. Problem with an open system like SYR is there are no controls to ensure those using the system are not abusing the system.
