Apparently according to Discovery channel right now...
(Friday 8:52pm)...Florida has a problem with Nile Monitors...

Is this true? I never heard anything about that...

I saw a show about that it had to be 4 years ago

Their nazi-esque scare tactics are insane...

They are supposed to be all over Cape Coral yet my buddy and his family haven't seen one in their 10 years of living there.

I'd be more concerned about those wild boars than any snake or lizard they like to make sure people are afraid of.

I love how they hype up how these snakes and monitors kill wildlife and pets...
but they neglect to add the facts about how domestic cats destroy ecosystems.

ARGH!!!

The worst part is, they only address the effect on the eco system as an afterthought. Their primary message seems to be "watch out, this animal will eat your baby."

If they did a show that really was about how they may harm the eco system and actually had facts it would be one thing, but this is pure scare tactics.

Stupid fear mongering media trying to make things illegal. :outs and stomps feet in a childish manner::

Of course they do! Someone saw one once!

Florida has a problem with feral cats, but the Discovery Channel doesn't mention it! Feral cats are one of the most successful predators. They prey on a large number of native birds, small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, but that never gets mentioned in their "Killer Aliens" shows
