Egg bound options...

bombballz May 23, 2010 12:15 AM

I have a female who was breed from September til about April. She looked like she was building around December then all of a sudden just like deflated in February and now she is back big again. She has not ate since December so its not food in her. She is about 1700 grams currently. I have not witnessed any obvious ovulation just building. And now she has been contracting like she is trying to push eggs down for about 3 weeks now. Totally inverted putting her coils over each other.. I honestly am stumped to if she is gravid or not im guessing by now if anything happens it will be slugs. I dont know of any reptile vets in my area and was wondering if there was any other options or has anyone experienced this???

Have you palpated her? Can you feel anything in her? Hard or soft?

I was worried about 1 of my females when she didn't lay by day 30 after her prelay shed. I ended up waiting her out and was sweating it every day! She finally laid 8 perfect eggs on day 49. She went 19 days over due with no problems. Just stressed me out!

I hope it all works out for ya!

Best regards,

I also had the same thing happen. All the stages of breeding followed from the begining. The only stage I did not witness was an obvious ovulation. She had a very slight swelling that I was not sure if it was an ovulation or not. I marked it down regardless. She ended up going 19 days beyond the common 30 days post ovulation shed.... For a total of 49 days. She layed 6 perfect eggs and is eating again just fine.
