I wrote Bert at Agama as I live in Northern CA. I was hoping to have my BW Argentine outside at night but it drops to 45 (for the next few months) and sometimes 29 (winter) degrees at times and it doesn't seem that outdoors will work. Yet reading Agama Int web site they talk about BW Argentine Tegu staying out in winter weather that gets to 20 degrees and not bringing them in till sub zero or close to freezing temps occur a few nights in a row. Burrowing and hibernation play a major factor this time of year so the animals he mentions are brought inside if needed. I haven't heard of many South American reptiles that can handle that cold of a temperature even in a burrow but as you know Bert has great lizards that do great all year. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Can having Tegu outside in California be done? - I'm 1 hour north of San Francisco so we are not getting that San Diego night temps.
But today it's 100 degrees - by 4 am it can drop easily to 48 degrees. Anyone that lives in Northern California knows of how skitzo the weather can be basically all year long.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks Steve
