I just got back from vacation and noticed way down that you had a question on Lavender Cal king eye color. Here is a pic from 2006 that shows a Lavender and an Albino Cal King from the same clutch (parents were double hets). Together, they are quite obvious.

Thank you! Do you think people refer to lavenders as lavender albinos because they are T "albinos" as opposed to the regular T- albinos?

I did buy that little lavender I saw at the pet shop. It's a female and ate a fuzzy mouse right away, after I got her detached from my finger! Love these little guys!

Lavender is hypomel.......not amel.........there is black pigment but it is reduced to lavender.......
If it were amel then the black would be replaced by the absence of color....white.....

Black in the eye mixed with red from the blood gives it a ruby color......
If no black...no ruby color....just red from the blood.....

So.... Both are not amel.........lol

John , What i wrote was to call the Amel an Amel not just albino,as both snakes are albino by definition ,and the laugh out load was unecessary

Chris....
Both snakes are not amelanistic.....
The Lavender with the Ruby eyes is Hypomelanistic....
Lavender is just an extreme version of Hypomelanism....

And you are right stating that both are albino by definition....But they are both not Amelanistic....Sorry if I mis read your first post.....

Sometimes it is difficult to interpret text on forums...
BTW...I was laughing out loud at myself typing all that not at you.....
