I like front page 2000 and 2002. I've tried other programs but my fog of a brain can't figure them out. I'm a creature of habit and got used to the Front Page 2002 program and can't seem to get used to others. Its pretty easy to use. Take a look at my web sites linked below in my signature and see what you can do with it.
Good luck!

I used to use Yahoo Geocities, but I had a problem and after two weeks of sending emails with no replies at all, unable to get the help I needed to fix my site, I went and got Frontpage. Now if I have a problem with my host, I can just up and move to a new one w/out losing my site. I'm still learning all the features of the program, working my way through the 633 page manual I bought, but I'm happy with it so far.

I built my site using Pagebuilder and Photoshop... after a few revisions I'm happy with the way it finally turned out.

If I were you I would have my site hosted through Yahoo... they take care of all the domain registration and renewals for no additional charge and Pagebuilder is just so easy to use. Photoshop takes some time to master, but it is not overly complicated either.

I made my site with NO prior experience.

Good luck, and let us know when you have a site up!

I use Macromedia Dreamweaver; you can download a free trial on their site. It is an industry standard (many like Adobe GoLive, as well). Frontpage, while easy to use if you're familiar with MS Office programs, makes junky code. Dreamweaver is very powerful and really easy once you get the hang of it.

I've also coded by hand, which isn't a bad thing to learn if you have the time. There are tons of resources on the internet.

Since you're asking about software, for images, I use and recommend Irfanview probably the best free image viewer/editor available. I also use Adobe Photoshop Elements. It's got most everything that it's bigger, more expensive brother, Photoshop has without the $600+ price tag. It's also easier for most people who aren't graphics professionals to use.

Take care

hi,
i use dreamweaver as well, but it is a bit expensive. i am not familar with the cost of the other mentioned programs.
for images, i use photoimpact and paint shop pro.

geckomom Sep 22, 2003 06:42 PM

I also use paint shop pro 7.0 and love it.
I cant seem to get used to dreamweaver although I have it.

i use photo impact very rarely, but enough to keep it around.

i don't do much web design anymore. i miss doing it!
i just don't have time anymore!

i don't even have a site of my own anymore. i am currently webdesigner for only one site. it is not geckos, but i am still proud of it.LOL
give it a look if u have nothing better to do.

With dreamweaver, get "Sams Teachyourself Dreamweaver in 24 hours. It's kind of a step-by-step look at te program and how to use it's basic functions, escilating into it's more advanced functions. It's a GREAT program. Also, if you're looking for a good webpage builder that's really simple to use, Netscape composer. It's nice and simple.

I use notepad.

well, for more serious things dreamweaver/ultradev is a must have.
Especially if you're integrating databases and the like, unless you're a sucker for coding coding and more coding

for graphics I use photoshop/imageready, illustrator and coreldraw.

I'd try out a few different programs and when you find one you like, stick with it and you'll be a whiz in no time.

I have a degree in computer graphic design, And my favorite over the years has definately been Adobe Photoshop. The newer versions will run you up in price, the newest is in the $800's, but in my opinion, it is definately a good buy now matter what version you get. I do it as a side hobby, so if anyone needs any designs, banners, or whatever, please feel free to ask me here or e-mail me at BlazeYoungblood@aol.com. I don't charge or anything, I just do it purely for fun. I'll gladly take any ideas no matter how customized you want it. Just let me know, it is my second passion.

I never really worked too much with the web site development end of it, more I make the designs, headers, sidebars, and general designs for people to post themselves. If you can send me the three pictures, I will gladly place them all on one image for you. If you would like to do it yourself, add together the size of all three photos and create a new file at that size. Then simply use the magic wand tool to make a box around the photo, cut, then paste on the blank image. If that's what you are talking about. I can crop and cut out some stuff for you too, all you gotta do is e-mail it to me and i'll get it back to you as soon as I can.

I went to the Art Institute of Philadelphia, they offer among the best computer design courses in the nation. It's a very broad field and there are many positions out there for the knowledge. Definately worth majoring in if you have some artistic talent and are computer friendly.
