Potentially Gravid Girl

IkeLightner May 24, 2010 11:49 AM

Hey All,

Here is my potentially/hopefully gravid 06' female Roxxy. She was first introduced to Dugo my 06' male on December 1st, 2009, both snakes were cooled beginning mid-October. Roxxy had potential POS dates of 1/30/10 and 3/15/10, I'm leaning towards 3/15 as her actual POS. For the past 2 months she has spent nearly 100% of her time on the warm end of her enclosure hugging the heat and I have recorded her temps to range from 81-83 degrees every single time I've checked on her (thought I'm trying my hardest not to disturbe her more than absolutely necessary). She has also only eaten a couple very small f/t meals since January (1 adult mouse & 1 hatchling chick).

This is my first attempt at breeding BRBs and this is also both Dugo and Roxxy's first seasons. I raised them up on a steady schedule and definitely made sure to not power feed.

Anyway, here are the pics and sorry for the crummy quality but I snapped them with my cell phone. Thanks

Hey Ike, she's looking good. From your dates, she's either due Thursday or more likely 07/10. Did you observe any courting? Tail wraps? and if so what dates?

I've put together a large spreadsheet with every visible courting action and shed within mating season over three years. Two with babies born and this year - still in the various ovens. I am seeing an average of almost thirty days from last noted courting before POS, minimum 12, maximum 63 I suspect real number is lower as I'm sure I don't catch every courting.

Dave, yeah I did see a pretty good amount of courting behavior. For the most part I witnessed Dugo and Roxxy hanging out together, coiled in the same hides, and generally just following one another throughout the enclosure (I did separate them periodically throughout this period). Around March I began to notice Dugo taking less interest in Roxxy and focusing much less on her so I decided to separate them permanently.

I have been working on building what is hopefully going to serve as my baby rack these past few weeks and I should have it finished by tomorrow. Heres to hoping that Roxxy fills even half of the 33 tubs with healthy little BRBs.
