Breeding!

MylesMasterson May 24, 2010 04:28 PM

I'm A reptile breeder,
I have always had a fascination with monitor lizards.
I wanted to ask around and ask what monitors would be some good candidates that don't require a lot of space and sell fairly well. This is the first time monitor lizards but not first time reptile by far!

I would say, Monitor lizards require a lot of space!
If you keep them like corn snakes, you will not be successful in breeding them!
Research and educate yourself.
I myself have for gone a lot of my other herps, to make room for more and more monitors.
They need tons of space.
Good luck

I would say do you research as far a what monitors require what space, It would take a lot of typing to go through the list. just find a list of monitors and go through the dwarfs.

As far as breeding I would really worry about care first. Im sure you know how to do temps and humidity if youve done other reptles, but monitors are a whole different story. They arent like leos and beardies where you can just put them together, get eggs, and incubate them at roughly the right temps.

There is a ton of info on the interned and a lot of good stuff on this forum. I would suggest read, read, then read some more.
