hibernation help please

if i was to keep my box turtles outside throughout the winter, in their enclosure, what should i do to give them the proper things to burrow etc? they have always been outside, since this spring. What should i put in there to help them out? what should i do>? thanks all!!!

you don't give your location, but if you are inside it's natural range, simply make sure your pen drains well, then prepare a spot. Loosen the soil several inches deep with a spade or garden-weasel. Top the spot with a large pile of mulch/grass/leaf mixture or whatever is handy that they can burrow under and be well insulated while it won't blow away.

They'll do the rest.
