Growth of your '09s....

mattcbiker May 24, 2010 05:59 PM

It seems like over the last 2 months I've really noticed a pickup in the growth of my bullsnake. Anybody else noticing this with their snakes?

Not sure how long or how much she weighs but I hope she makes it close to 3.5-4' by her one year in August.

If anybody has recent pics of their '09 babies post them up!

I bought a pair of Black pines at the expo in Daytona in 08' and was amaized that they attained 60" in their second year and even threw a bad clutch of five eggs, but then I purchased a bull from nok tom in 09 and it got to 50" in its first yr. Its all in how much you feed them, most novice snake owners way under estimate how much to feed and how often. The key to obtaining monster pinesnakes is to feed them as much as it will eat in it's first two years and get them on rat pups as soon as possible. JB

Here is a rather poor quality picture of my baby bull Alfonzo taken a couple of days ago asking me to feed him. I feed him about every three or four days; he gets small mice frequently, instead of big mice less often, as he does better on a multiple small food often schedule. His sister prefers the large item less frequently, so I accommodate her as well. They both are about 3 feet long, I think. The cage is four feet long. They both weigh over 310 grams. They were hatched April 30th-May 1st of 2009. I feed them when they come out and ask me, not according to some schedule of my own.

yeah you can definitely tell by their body language when they are ready to eat again. thanks for the pic, nice color on your snake and nice cage, too.
