I've only had my BP for a month. But I follow the suggestions on this site: http://www.anapsid.org/cleaning.html

I use hot soapy water to clean my BP's water dish and carpet each week and I put a new piece of carpet in while the old one dries. I then rinse and disinfect the dish and carpet with Nolvasan (soak in for 20 minutes). Dry and put back in tank (dish that is).

I clean the glass with a homemade glass cleaner (recipe at website above).

Each month I take everything out of the tank and clean and disinfect the tank. I also take out the plants and clean & disinfect them too. I also wipe the branches and hides with Nolvasan - or as needed (if urates have gotten on them, etc).

Each week I sterilize the cleaning gloves, sponges, etc.

Don't know if I overdo it or not, but my tank always looks great. Non-snake and non-animal lovers are surprised at how nice my tank is and are not as grossed out.
