Another husbandry problem on the horizon

The end of incandescent bulbs in the US. Which means there probably won't be many in Canada either.

They kind of snuck this one by us while we weren't paying attention I guess.

That really friggin sucks! Will floodlights still be available to buy? If so at least they can be substituted if anything.

Floodlights/spotlights are still incandescent, so no. They already make cfl floods. Maybe they'll allow reptile specific bulbs so we can pay $5 each.

I expect halogen flood lights will still be available. Though not sure if these fall under 'incandescent bulbs' as well. I don't have a problem with coil florescent bulbs other than the fact they don't produce much if any heat...which does make it useless as a heat source. Worse comes to worse, we can buy the expensive petshop heat bulbs or use radiant heat panels or ceramic heat emitters in conjunction with a bright florescent bulb...

Though tempted to go buy a few dozen or so halogen floods so I have a good stock for the next ten or so years.
