Baird's update

CarlKoch May 26, 2010 08:26 PM

A friend loaned me his TX locale male Bairds rat snake to try and mate with my big female. Here’s shot of his lovely guy.

I took out the hide boxes and water bowl to try and get a shot of the 2, and the male immediately began pursuing my female. Soon he grabbed her by the head and tried to position his vent by hers.

She managed to break free of the “head lock”...

...so he grabbed her again, further down her body this time.

Again he tried to align their vents.

He was ultimately successful.

Here’s hoping for a big, healthy clutch!

Good luck, Carl.
Here's hoping lots of eggs.

The mix of Texas Baird's with Mex Baird's should be some interesting colors!

Thanks, Bill! I always have thought that mine seemed to show Mexican bairdi influence, but that it didn't look like a pure Mexican.

Could very well be a mix...
Doesn't matter, the young are going to be great animals for someone...
