It's too bad you can't get a small amount of crickets from a better cricket breeder. From my history of buying small amounts of crickets at local petstores (I used to buy like 200 at a time... I didn't even know you could order them online), I have learned that certain people have better crix than others. I think that local places probably go with the lowest price, and even then they don't care how the crickets do. If they sell one tenth of them they're making a profit. If you're buying 60 crix at a time, I would guess you're paying 6 or 7 bucks. If you think about it, you could buy 500 crickets from almost anyone you want for like 15 bucks delivered. All it takes is a little extra effort to keep them alive. So if you use 150 of those 500 crickets, you're saving money. And for a few dollars more you can have 1000. Yes, I realize you don't need 1000 and they wouldn't live as long as you would need them, but find someone in your area that needs crix too and split it with them. Anyone with more than 2 chameleons would probably save money doing this. I got 2 boxes of crickets from wormman.com on Thursday, one 3/4 inch and the other were 2 week olds and as of today I think I've lost 1 cricket (I think this morning). This batch was exceptionally healthy. I noticed as soon as I dumped the box into my bin and I didn't see 1 dead cricket and NO pest bugs. So ever since I've been keeping an eye on them and just today (4 days later) I saw my first dead cricket. Give it a shot. You'll save money and get better crickets.
