I don't keep my leos on it, but my boa..... I would post this elsewhere, but I know i'll get the fastest response here....

... How do you stop the bed-a-beast from molding over? I've never had this problem until the last 2 times I used it in my snake's tank.... please let me know what causes it.... Thanks!

I have never had it mold over before, I use it in all my moist hides and did use it with my rainbow boas. I switched my rainbows to Cell-Sorb Plus it really seems to be a good product plus they don't injest any of it when eating. I would try disenfecting all the containers that are molding and maybe don't wet it so much.

yes the mold actually can be harmfull to the snake. It can get sub skin infections under the scales. Really hard to treat. One of the number one culprits for loosing juvienile rainbow boas I have read about so far. I am sure it can do the same for other species of snake, actually others don't need the super high moisture content.

Cell-Sorb Plus is a paper product. Kinda resembles grey, pellets. It is excellant stuff. It is much better than care-fresh as that it does not pack down or have any dust. I use it now for my rainbows with great findings. It will only mold slightly where poo lays for a while and then just scoop it out and replace with a little. I get it at the local pet store, any pet stores should have it or be able to get it for you. I change it once every month or month and a half whether it needs it or not. Best product I have seen in some time for humid enviorments.

Bed-A-Beast can mold over if it's too humid, and it's usually because there is dead food or waste on it that wasn't cleaned up.

I'd think the mold could be harmful to a snake, but wouldn't necessarily be.
