What are the chances......

jlsreptiles2011 May 28, 2010 08:08 AM

What are the chances of there ever being an exotic reptile expo in the Nashville, Memphis or Knoxville, TN areas? I know a couple of people have told me that there has only been one to ever take place and that ended up sucking because alot of vendors had to leave because they didnt have a license to sale rat snakes, corn snakes and other stuff like turtles. It would seem like TN would get smart and make available a temporary license and use the money for the wildlife resources agency. I mean they sale out of state fishing licenses that are temp and ones that are all year long. Maybe that's something I could write them about. Let me know if you guys think it's a good idea.

There was just one in Memphis, Tn. Well in Southaven, MS. The people that put on the last show around Nashville, TN lied to everyone. They told the vendors that they had pre sold 6000 tickets, put flyers out everywhere and had advertisied on the radio. I live in that area and saw no flyers, heard no advertising on the radio and didnt see 6000 people thru the doors.

I was a vendor at a show in Tennessee many years ago and the show promoter lied to us about the laws to get us there. Once I got there I was informed that I could not sell 90% of what I brought. No turtles, no tortoises, no colubrids, etc, etc. The only animals I could put on my table were leopard geckos. So until your state changes its ridiculously repressive laws you would have to be slow to put on a show there.
