Hi there ,

I've loved snakes most of my life, as long as I can really remember. But for one reason or another I haven't been able to own more than one little Garter snake that my Dad caught for me when I was little. Now I'm at the point where I will be able to finally have a pet snake .

Firstly, I live in Washington State and am wondering if there are any conventions in the Seattle area for reptiles that I could attend? I would like to buy my first snake from a Breeder and I'd like to see the snake in person and ask questions rather than just getting on shipped in.

Secondly, I'm pretty sure I'm going to get a Californa Kingsnake. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me about how much a setup will cost, food costs, and any handy information that I should know. I'll be posting this message in a few of the forum threads here as well.

Great news to hear you are getting your first snake! I am going to keep this simple.
1. 10 gallon tank will be fine.
2. Heat pad or heat lamp. perfer pad myself
3. Bedding. If only one snake i would use repti-bark
Looks great and easy to clean.
4. Water dish
5. Something to hide in.
6. A lid with a lock.
You should be able to get all the supplies for around
$50.00. You can spend a lot more but this is all you have to have. Remember this is a pet and a friend so have fun decorating his/her new cage.
