I Just Can't Stop Looking At These Guys

fgs May 29, 2010 06:29 AM

I couldn't believe it when my friend Keo Santoso and I were video taping the sliting ceremony. We were both shocked to find 3 BELs out of a 5 egg clutch. Since they came out of their eggs 2 days ago I haven't been able to keep my eyes off of them. I couldn't be happier with the way these guys turned out. If you look carefully you can see a yellow or white stripe going down their pink backs. I really didn't know what to expect from the first clutch of Gold Blush Super Mojaves, but they have surpassed my wildest imagination. The test will be to see what this group of 1.2 look like after their first shed.

I hope everyone is having a great season.

What's really unique is their color. The color of these snakes reminds me of a pearl. These are the first BELs I've seen right out of the egg, so I don't know if all hatchling BELs look like this or not. I'm very excited about seeing these guys after their first shed. My hope is that their heads stay clean.

What a pleasant surprise it was to find 3 of these guys in the 5 egg clutch. I was hoping for 1 with an understanding that the odds could go against me. It was a nice way to start the season.

I seem to be having a pretty good season so far for one of the rookies on the block. I have 7 clutches out right now, 3 Albino, 1 Fire, 1 Enchi, 1 Lesser and one of my better ones, a clutch of Vanilla Ghosts. Seems like the bulk of the clutches are still to come as I believe about 12 or 15 females that are gravid and 2 of my Siders ovulated tonight. One bred to a Pin and the other was bred to the Pin and a Lesser. Sure hoping for a decent season.. Oh, about 4 of the females I believe may be gravid were also bred to my male Vanilla Ghost so I am hoping to have a slew of Vanillas het for Ghost and Vanilla Ghosts since they are all 100 and 66% het girls. I will have some great fun in about 2 years I believe as I just bought a Super Vanilla Ghost female from Chris and Shelia at GCR. I love the looks of that Vanilla Cream someone posted a while back. I think they had like 3 Vanilla crosses up but that Fire Vanilla looks awesome to me. That thing is so light and so funky it almost seems like the Ghost gene will get lost in that cross. Hope the rest of your season goes as well as your start, Jay from Sunny AZ

Alice,

There will be another clutch of super mojaves hatching out in another week or so. That clutch is from my silver and black line bred to the gold blush line. It will be intersting to see how those babies compare. It looks like I'll have around 20 clutches of other morphs hatching from now till August.

What is a Gold Blush Mojave?

Dave

fgs May 30, 2010 05:29 PM

Dave,
Through 3 generations of selective breeding I have created 3 distinct lines of mojaves, the gold blush, the silver and black and the buckskin line. The Gold blush line began by breeding a high blushing male mojave that I purchased 6 years ago from Dan and Colette Southerland. I bred that male to many normal females, but one of those females produced mojaves that popped with golden overtones. For somereason I'm not able to download any videos onto this post so check out these videos.

This video is of the normal that is the matriarch of the Gold Blush Line. http://www.youtube.com/user/fgs9#p/u/12/jlBxbSaPSIo
