mouse question and distilled water for misting......

kcaiman Sep 22, 2003 08:35 PM

i've heard a mix on the subject.... are fuzzies good as a main diet? i heard they're too fatty... so i've been using almost all superworms (as recomended) and also some crickets. i was told only use the fuzzies once a month!?

distilled water... i use 'normal' water for the water dish but would it be ok if i use distilled for misting to keep it more damp without getting that stuff on the glass thats hard to get off and looks bad?

all for bluetail if it matters

I feed pinks and fuzzies all the time, not fatty, good nutrition, never used superworms and cricketts are as only as good as what they are fed (gutloaded)otherwise there just fiber. I keep Doreanus (Bluetails except mine have green tails) and feed them mostly mice and they also get what ever Anole wanders into there encloser as well as Palmetto bugs (Florida roaches). I dont understand the misting unless your setup is do dry. You should have good humidity in your cage.I dont know how you set them but A screen top wont allow this, if thats what you are using.
Good Luck and this is my opinions.

p.s Did you have a pair, or is it just that one?

Yea had alot for sale, but sold a pair of Jobi's and that helped me for now. And am keeping these Doreanus as they ended up looking like a pair, the one with less color is female. The pics dont do justice they are extreme in person, almost need sunglasses, lol.

the top is covered except for two openings with screen for the heat lights. the misting would be for afound the light because i thought it might dry it out. do you think it will be fine humidity wise as it is? Your bluetailed(greentail) has a really awesome coloration! nice dark yellow!

BTW how many fuzz do you give a young monitor at a time?..... its a little under 20 inches now... so mostly 2 at a time? do you think 3 would be good?

Depending on the size of the mouse, I put at least three in then take out what it doesnt eat. If it eats all three then great as long as you have good temps for digestion. I leave the lights on my young 24/7 but my humidity is 70% and they have deep hides to escape the lights and different levels of temps to choose from, 120-80deg.
