First time breeding hogs. She is laying

chrisdrake May 30, 2010 02:45 PM

This is my first attempt at breeding western hogs and I'm excited to say she is in the process of laying now. I found an undercalcified egg last night in the cage that looked pretty bad. Checked her again this morning and found another undercalcified egg but looks fertile. Veins are clearly running throughout the egg. When in doubt I'm incubating. Checked her again just now and so far 3 good eggs and another one coming. I would like to take pics but I'll leave her alone. Here are some bad pics of the eggs.

The undercalcified. Veins visible

Great to see that! Be very careful not to keep those eggs too humid, that poorly calcified one will rupture with too much moisture.
