Water Snake Food???

lizard_king Sep 22, 2003 09:01 PM

I have a new Water Snake and know nothing yet. I have fed it gold fish and small live frogs. Is this OK??? I bought some frozen fuzzies but have not tried them yet, not sure if he will eat dead mice. Like I said I know nothing and really want to spoil this snake. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks.

I used to feed my water snake a variety of things. Feeder Fish, Guppies, Frogs, Lizards, Pinkies rubbed with fish... He ate everything...grew to be about 3 feet before he escaped...I miss the little guy...

Ask on the Water Snake Forum... Someone there should know a little more

Bear in mind that by feeding live “cold-blooded” prey to your snake you run a higher risk of passing on any parasites the fish and frogs are harboring than with frozen/thawed food. Yes, it should be fairly easy to get it to eat the fuzzies you bought by scenting them with whatever your water snake seems to prefer.

I second the advice above about checking out the Water Snake forum. Read some posts there and ask questions. You’ll learn a lot which will help you take good care of your snake.
