Umbilical Cord question

noahsark31 May 31, 2010 02:04 PM

Hey all. Hope all is well. I had a baby albino hatch this weekend with about 1.5 in of cord still attached. This is from a pair of hets and none of the other babies have this. Mine in the past have not either. Im thinking it will dry up and fall off but I wanted to know what you all thought.
Thanks for your time
Cody

Keep the cage moist, we usually use paper towel substrate until they seal up. Keep it clean as well.

If the cord is withering away, give it a day, maybe two, to seal on its own.

If it is one of the THICK quarter inch type cords, and plump and full, I give it at most a day. After that, or if it bleeds or leaks, we will tie it off with dental floss as close to the body as possible, and trim off the rest.

Robyn, Thanks for your response. As of right now the cord has dried up but it is still attached. There is nothing moist about it anymore. Should I wait to cut the cord off or go ahead and do it now?
