Incubators

What kind of incubators do you guys use?
I'm thinking of switching and I can't make up my mind. Right now I only produce a few clutches per year.

why do you want to risk cooking your eggs?

For mfoux,
I agree that an incubator is not usually needed for colubrid eggs. But if you want one, it is easy to make your own.

One of the easiest, safest "incubators" is a 5 gal bucket (with lid) filled with about 4 inches of water, a low wattage submersible aquarium heater placed in the water, and some bricks to set your egg boxes on. Very hard to overheat, maintains humidity. Cut an access hole in the lid for the heater cord and air.

Some people use a large styrene foam cooler instead of a bucket. Depends on how many eggs.

Aquarium heaters (the good ones) already have a high limit cutoff, so you have less to worry about with those. Just make sure the water does not leak out of the bucket or cooler.
