breeding question

snakekate Jun 01, 2010 09:34 AM

Just bred my 'banana' phase king to a yellow and brown normal, can anyone tell me what the babies might turn out to be? Can the 'banana' gene be passed to offspring...I'm hoping for a few banana babies...but really not sure what I'll get so any input would be great.

Banana is a line bred trait to increase the amount of yellow. Breeding a banana to a brown/yellow coastal morph should produce all brown and yellow babies with varying degrees of yellow in the pattern.

Your answer is, who the heck knows when you do not know the actual linage. Think of it as Christmas, you could get anything. But most likely you will get socks and some underwear. Because they normally lay a bunch of eggs, 8 to 15, or so. You have a chance at a real nice present. Cheers

Haha I hope its a good christmas...any predictions based on the pic?

Your pic didnt show up for me. If it is a non-amel banana king, and a normal coastal cal king, then all the babies will be some variation of brown and yellow. I am pretty sure the bananas are just line bred coastal morphs to emphasise the yellow coloration. You should get some higher yellow coastals.

I think you will get some normal banded kings and some aberrant kings. Thats just a guess though.
