It's difficult to see because of the pile-o-boa crammed in the back of the cage, but I'm callin' it!
THIS GIRL IS OVULATING!!!

That's Lily, my reverse striped Guyanese BCC that I obtained from Jered Ewy at the beginning of last year. TALK ABOUT STUBBORN! MAN! She just didn't want to ovulate. I actually ended up introducing a second male just to try and coax her into it.
The original male was Mr. Incredible. He sired my '08 Rose litter and produced some PHENOMENAL babies with her, almost all of them having a laddertail, or at least a partial laddertail. That was my motivation for using him. I figured that since he produced laddertails with Rose, if I paired him with a reverse striped female, I might get more laddertails and reverse stripes! The prevailing thought seems to be that reverse stripes are extreme laddertails (either in a co-dominant fashion, or just a double dose, or possibly just an exaggerated form of the same thing). This is Mr. Incredible:

I did see MULTIPLE copulations with Mr. Incredible and Lily including one that may have lasted for days - as every time I checked on them, they were copulating. It was actually driving me crazy because I wanted to clean the cage!
Both Lily and Mr. Incredible were born in '04, and both to WC females who were captured gravid in Guyana and gave birth in the US.
The second male I introduced in an effort to get her to ovulate was Mr. Damn. Mr. Damn, who was WC last year, just finished getting Rose to ovulate and was resting comfortably with a rat in his belly when I decided he needed to join the party. I never saw copulation between Mr. Damn and Lily, but we all know how that goes. In general, having the second male in there just kept all 3 boas from resting anywhere in the cage and it probably prevented copulation from either male. It was constant movement and TONS of spurring and squeezing. Neither male would relent. Here is Mr. Damn:

I'll be happy with either male siring the litter, but I'm really hoping it was Mr. Incredible for multiple reasons - not the least of which would be so that I would have 2 litters of Guyanese BCC this season, resulting from 2.2 unrelated animals with "wild blood".
This is QUITE timely since I was in the Reptile Insider chat room last night discussing how this girl just WOULDN'T ovulate and I made a comment that upon peering in, she just might be beginning her ovulation
Thanks for looking and cross your fingers for me!
