{I ack that this is not immediate-law related, but it is my modest experience with collecting press that items like this contribute to the adoption of local, restrictive, herp-keeping by-laws. Also, notice the plethora of non-herp relevent 'problems' also mentioned. respects, Wes}
WALTON SUN (Santa Rosa Beach, Florida) 23 May 10 Officers remove large, aggressive snake from home
Animal control officers removed an aggressive 7 1/2-foot exotic snake from a home, and authorities contacted the state Department of Children and Families after finding guns there, according to a Bay County Sheriff’s Office report.
No one was arrested in the Friday investigation, according to the Sheriff’s Office, but a DCF worker who visited the home required the mother to take her children somewhere else.
The case began when a sheriff’s deputy was called to help an animal control officer take the large snake out of the 14th Street home. When the deputy arrived, the county’s animal control chief, Jim Crosby, had already helped remove the reptile.
Crosby said inside, the home was covered in trash and animals, the children were dirty and there were unsecured firearms on a bedroom floor, according to the report.
The deputy confirmed there was an unloaded rifle sitting on top of a five-foot-high cage.
