wtf's or gtf's are both great starter frogs. just remember frogs are not like a dog or a cat, you can not pick them up and play with them. they require alot of care and attention, and you will be having to deal with LIVE crickets.
my site has care info on the whites tree frog, but it is under green tree frog section, because in Aus we call whites, greens.

Whites Tree frogs are my all time favorite frogs. They are hardy, gentile, and compared to most other tf's, they don't mind being handled. But like lukeybaby said, you have to remember they are very different from other pets. If the temp isn't just right, you're not dusting your crickets, and in some places, you don't use the right water, you'll loose them. Good luck in what ever you choose!

I keep lots of types of tree frogs Red eyed, Whites, Cuban, Green, reed, clown, but my favorite one was very unexpected to me.
It was sold to me as a tiger legged tree frog. I think it is related to the waxy monkey frogs but I am not sure what the scientific name for it is. It is a rather small green frog with leopard spotted flash colors on his legs and sides. He is my favorite because he is small not (much bigger than an inch) and does not make as big a mess as a whites. I have had him for almost two years with no problems. He is a very good eater for his size. He eats even better than my red eyes. He is super calm. When I go to clean his tank I take him out on the end of my finger and he has never tried to jump off just sits there calmly. My whites are much jumpier than him. He always walks across the branches in a very uniqe manner. He is also very bright and colorful. He is green with bright orange and black on his legs and sides. Every night he calls out and it sounds like a little cork popping and when I click my tongue to imitate him he answers back. I do not handle my frogs too much because they are not like a dog or cat but you can get a red or black light and turn off the other lights at night and they are very interesting and beautiful to watch. If you want to see a picture of a tiger legged tree frog go to the amphibians section of www.reptiledepot.com they are also pretty inexpensive compared to red eyed tree frogs. Good luck with your new hobby.
I have had Cubans for over a year now and I love them so much. They are pretty active frogs and are very hardy. They usually go through a stress stage after moven to a new tank but after that they do great. I have had my adult female for over a year now and my baby cuban for 7 months. Both ared doing awesome and my baby is growing leaps and ribbets:LOL, sorry some corny frog humor there,LMAO. I have not yet tried to keep whites but The thing that turns me off with them is how fat they look if they get over fed. I use to house three cubans in a 55 gallon and one would tend to eat more then the others and they do not get the fat rolls like whites do. They just get HUge TUMMYs. Plus there markings are awesome looking and they can come in various colors as well, not just green and blue fase.
So personally I like Cubans as my favorite tree frogs.
