Well, this year was my first attempt at breeding and I have to say, I am quite pleased thus far. This adventure started back during the winter with my self-made rack to keep things more organized. Then after finishing the rack, I moved onto my cooler incubator (which I made for all of $25). I actually kept the incubator heated for about four months just to reassure myself of my work. But it holds a nice steady 82, night and day.
So far so good. My first clutch was laid on 5/30 and they all look like nice fertile eggs. And yes, she did lay them right in her enclosure. No idea why. She curled up in her lay box for about two weeks, only coming out to feed. But then when it came time to lay, she ventured out and dropped them in the corner.
Now if the other two females follow suit (but in the lay boxes), we'll be in business.
