My first clutch

ChrisMaze Jun 04, 2010 04:54 PM

Well, this year was my first attempt at breeding and I have to say, I am quite pleased thus far. This adventure started back during the winter with my self-made rack to keep things more organized. Then after finishing the rack, I moved onto my cooler incubator (which I made for all of $25). I actually kept the incubator heated for about four months just to reassure myself of my work. But it holds a nice steady 82, night and day.

So far so good. My first clutch was laid on 5/30 and they all look like nice fertile eggs. And yes, she did lay them right in her enclosure. No idea why. She curled up in her lay box for about two weeks, only coming out to feed. But then when it came time to lay, she ventured out and dropped them in the corner.

Now if the other two females follow suit (but in the lay boxes), we'll be in business.

Good looking momma. What are her genetics and wht did you breed her to? As for the eggs outside the box. Who knows? Maybe it was too wet in the box or some other factor but sometimes It's just a cookey snake. No harm done, they look really good. Good luck!

She's an amel motley, het anery, and 50% hypo. Bred her to an anery rootbeer I know for sure. Not sure what else he's carrying in his bag of tricks. Kinda hoping he's holding an amel allele, too, and maybe motley, to make some (motley) creamsicles. I guess I'll find out soon enough!

Congrats! She's pretty. Looks like we'll be posting "our first hatchling" photos round the same time if all goes well for both of us
