Ok, in the valley of Northern California this has been the 'coolest' spring in more than 4 decades as we have not hit 90 degrees yet, much less 100. It is getting in the 80's, but were still getting rain here and snow in the mountains. When I was riding my bike along the American River yesterday I saw the usual deer, turkeys, squirells, rabbits, hawks, buzzards, and other birds, but I also saw a Northern Pacific rattlesnake(c.v.helleri), a banded california kingsnake, whiptail and scleropus lizards, and a large alligator lizard. When I got home I saw this alligator lizard on my patio:
It's always cool seeing herps in the wild, but I also like checking out these 'ugly' sunglows:
You definitely know spring and summer are here when you see all these awesome boa litters being born. Keep them coming and good luck to everybody on their upcoming litters!
